“Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful, and since we’ve no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.”
Why the trilling of Christmas songs in October, you ask? Because Winter weddings are up front and central in our minds right now, our mountains having received a plentiful bounty of snow from our friend, Ma Nature, and the snow forecast for this week is unbelievable. And it’s not even Halloween yet! Some may say it’s too early to get excited but….the heck with it, darn it, we’re now officially excited about Winter weddings!
It’s no secret that while we love all of Whistler’s seasons, and every season brings its varying joys and beauties here on Planet Planning, Winter weddings have the power to get us all fired up. After all, we are blessed to live in one of the continent’s most amazing Winter Wonderlands. Winter in Whistler is magical, like being inside a vintage snowglobe.
Yes sir, if we know anything in Whistler, it’s how to ‘do’ Winter. We are experts at delivering a Winter experience that’s second to none.
And how about those vintage inspirations? Winter more than any other season, offers up endless opportunities to indulge our love of all things retro. In our treasure trove of decor items available for rental we have fabulous antique items like skis, snowshoes and skates – just take a peek at our Catalog here.
We love the colours of Winter too – not just the obvious white and silver but bright pops of rich colour against a snowy backdrop; ditch the pastels and throw yourself into stronger palettes of purples, red, burgundy and aubergine, dark blues, metallics and gold!
How about lighting? Your reception venue with a wintery dark night beyond the windows cries out for masses of candles and sparkling lights that would be wasted on a light summer evening in July. Go crazy, your guests will feel like they stepped into a Dr Zhivago movie set.
Here’s a gallery of images from some of our favourite winter weddings. You can click on any image to enlarge. We hope you enjoy these images and feel inspired to join us in a rousing chorus of ‘Let it Snow’….all together now… one, two, three!
